Phillies Ballgirls host their annual Christmas in July toy drive

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Phillies are helping spread a little holiday cheer months ahead of schedule.

The Ballgirls hosted their annual Christmas in July toy drive at Citizens Bank Park, collecting new, unwrapped toys before Saturday's game.

As a thank you, anyone who brought a toy received a voucher for a discount to a future Phillies game.

"I feel like it's a good cause, and it gives kids something to open," said Marie Helms of Levittown, Pa.

All donations benefit Grands Stepping Up, a nonprofit that supports grandparents and guardians raising children.
